Kia ora, and happy Tuesday! It’s been 6 months since we started Climate Club. In that time:
All you beautiful people now make up a growing community of over 400 subscribers trying to do their bit for the climate!
We’ve sent out 22 weekly emails and shared over 100 actions from 11 different organisations.
Our email open rate is pretty consistently around 50% (this is pretty darn great; the benchmark is ~25%)
While we don’t currently have a way to measure our end-goal impact of helping people take action, usually around 30% of openers click a link. So that’s around 60 of you taking the first step towards an action each week = approx 1000+ actions taken by you wonderful humans!
Thank you all so much for reading, sharing, and being part of Climate Club. We are beyond stoked with how these first 6 months have gone, and can’t wait to keep doing this mahi with you all.
What can you do today?
The most clicked link from last week’s issue was this Forest & Bird petition to fund and restore wetlands.
🐝 If you have 5 minutes: Feedback & feeding the kids
We’re celebrating 6 months! We’d love to hear from each and every one of you on how we can make Climate Club even better.
Action: Take this 2-minute survey to tell us how you’ve been finding Climate Club 💌Parents for Future Global are calling on governments worldwide to adopt a Fossil Fuel treaty vowing to end the expansion of coal, gas, and oil production. 256 groups have signed so far, and you can add your name (you don’t have to be a parent!).
Action: Sign the Global Parents for Future call for a Fossil Fuel TreatyStudents in Europe take part in a school fruit, vegetables, and milk scheme, which currently means dairy milk. Adding plant milks as an option would reduce the climate impact of the scheme, while still giving kids the sustenance they need!
Action: Join the call to bring plant-based milk to EU schools
🐇 If you have 15 minutes: Home is where the heat is

Action: Take a quick look at these roles and see if you know of any friends to shoulder tap who might be a good fit!
💃🏽 If you have 30 minutes or more: Branch out

Action: Come along next Wednesday to our lightning talk!
Christchurch: Protect Our Winters NZ & Conservation Volunteers are holding a community tree planting day. Meet other like-minded members of the outdoor community, enjoy the BBQ they’re putting on for volunteers, and help keep winters cold!
Action: Volunteer to plant some native trees this Saturday 11th June
In case you missed it!
Green MP Eugenie Sage has delivered an open letter to Labour ministers calling on them to keep their promise of banning new mining projects on conservation land. We shared this way back in Issue #2! As we wait for a response from Labour, you can keep the pressure on by joining the call for a moratorium on mining if you missed it the first time.
That’s all for today, folks 👋🏽 Thanks for taking action. Enjoy this latest episode of the podcast Outrage & Optimism which celebrates & analyses Australia’s massive election win for the climate on the backs of greens and all-women independent candidates (💅💪YASS QUEENS), and delves into how Wales is leading the way in future-thinking public policy.
See you next week,
Dhanya, Emily, and Jenny from the Climate Club
