Thank you Kevin and we see your point if you were just to look at the image. I believe Jodie was saying that change is hard, but that it's better than the alternative - not even trying to change, or thinking that it's a crisis we can't act on. Instead, we have to look for ways to change our systems and ourselves. Our whole vibe is that we still can do a lot to fight a catastrophic, collapse, extinction-level event - and it's important to act now to build the positive world we want.
But we have updated the caption to reflect a more accurate view and take your point!
Definitely not the message we were trying to get across, the "it is going to be okay" was meant to be more reflective of change itself being okay, and that through embracing the fact that some changes are inevitable, we can better engage in the work of climate action rather than being overwhelmed by it. Clearly the message didn't come across as intended so apologies, and thanks for responding to let us know, we have removed the image.
That being said, as Emily pointed out, we don't necessarily think it is helpful to go down the road of 'collapse and extinction is inevitable', particularly for young people! Our message is about how there is lots we can still do to take action and to build a better world.
"It's going to be ok, but it's going to be different"
WTAF?
Are you going to tell the youth that garbage?
It is Not Going To Be OK
This kind of revisionism is dishonest and makes this blog part of the problem.
Collapse and extinction is the only realistic scenario.
