As Rob Hopkins of the Transition Movement recognises, as a culture we have a failure of imagination; https://www.amazon.com/What-If-Rob-Hopkins/dp/1645020290, so his work now is to reactivate creativity with groups at all levels of society.
For a more practical approach Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics Action Lab is providing a framework to begin radical change which will vary according to context.

I've been reading a bit about the concept of civic imagination, the capacity for communities to imagine alternate futures, and it sounds like the Rob Hopkins book would really add to that! Have noted it down :)
Really appreciated Kate Raworth's work from the articles I've read of hers, I'll have to have a watch of her talk - thanks for the recommendations!
Thanks for your response Dhanya…I’ve listened to several of Robs presentations/webinars since he wrote the book..well worth finding them online.
So funny…I thought you were a New Zealand based group …hence the inclusion of the link…and it relates to her recent book Thinking like a 21sr century economist.
There’s a question re degrowth at the end …and her response references Jason Hickle.
Here's some more inspiration from the amazing Rebecca Solnit - a story about occupiers and 30,000 climate activists in Lützerath, Germany, who recently put their bodies in the way of the machines eating a hole several miles wide.
Thank you for sharing this story Stephen - that's such a grim story, particularly the extent to which the protesters had to go to avoid being fingerprinted and jailed. I really appreciate Solnit's ability to take a step back and follow the threads of these actions to the impacts they have! It's a difficult thing to do to continue being hopeful, but she does it really well.

Ooh I'll definitely see if I can find his books online or at the library!
And we are indeed a NZ-based group :)
Aah …great .. i thought you were initially but when I looked at the bottom of your email it said San Francisco, CA..so was confused!
Oh good catch! We should change that, thanks for noting it!
