Thank you. This is a brilliant NZ wide summary of practical action we can take. Great work and thank you. I signed the garden and I'm making a new compost heap and building healthy soil today. In Taupo. Brilliant new community garden in taupo showing locals how to grow food. It has a stage for concerts. You'd love it. Heart swellingly good news.
Last Christmas I had three friends around to celebrate aboard the boat I live on. Instead of having a heavy meal, I had a browsing table, all vegan, with home-made dips, pâtés, chorizo, cheese, samosas and bread; crackers, salad, etc - all vegan. We had bubbly to drink and people helped themselves to the food all afternoon. One of my friends - not veg~n - said it was the best Christmas dinner she had enjoyed since she moved here from Europe, 15 years ago! I had nice leftovers to enjoy and to offer people calling by over the next few days and will do something similar this Christmas. (You can find some of the recipes on my blog, www.thevoyagingvegetarian.blogspot.com/)
Ah, thank you Emily. The vegan Parmesan ("Parmegan"!) is astonishingly good. Peanuts is the cheapest way to go, but using Brazil nuts is a great way to boost your Selenium intake 😄
I am subscribed to your site after Nick Rockel asked readers what other news sources they accessed. Your site was recommended. So glad I joined. An interview with the guy who has set up Taupo community gardens would be inspirational.
Oooh just checking out Nick Rockel's Substack for the first time! Glad to have you here.
If the person who set up the community garden would like to get in touch (see our "About" page for contact details), they're most welcome - we sometimes do guest posts on specific topics, and local food systems would be a great topic!
Love reading your suggestions, and often give you a shout out. Good that Substack generates these networks. In turn allowing the info swaps to Heal Our World, encouraging our transitions. I left the UK, disgusted with Brexit, emigrated to Nederland, sold my diesel truck, started growing my own, bought an electric trike, building a solar camping trailer...... to be able to search for a patch of land in France...... then create a centre for Green Living. Peace, Maurice

Good on ya! Wow, that sounds like such a great initiative. Thanks for taking action 💚
